Pula is a city on the southern tip of the Istrian peninsula. There are many ruins left over from the Roman Empire, including one of the few Colloseums left standing today.

Fort Punta Christo is normally only open to the public once a year for an EDM concert, but I got lucky when I took a taxi out there. There was construction happening at the place, but they let me wander around after the cab driver talked them into it. I ended up running into two local journalists, one of whom spoke decent enough English for me to understand most of everything he ended up telling me that day. They were there trying to match the blueprints of the fort to where the extensions had taken place over the course of several decades beginning sometime in the 1840s. Because of this, I ended up gaining access to several rooms and hallways that remain permanently closed to the public. After that, one of them took me to a couple more forts in the area and explained how a bombing had taken place at one of them during World War Two.

Below is Fort Grosso. In some pics you can see where it was damaged during the bombing.
